This is the most common type of wallpaper because it is easy to hang and remove is the best option for damp areas and often comes pre pasted. An upgrade from plain paper wallpaper vinyl coated paper offers the durability and washability that paper alone simply does not. Vinyl papers are tough hardwearing and washable although some have a thicker layer of vinyl than others so will be more durable. Vinyl wallpapers consist of a printed skin of vinyl stuck onto a base layer of paper.

It is generally considered more durable than fabric backed or paper backed vinyls as listed above because the vinyl is solid or not applied in a liquid form. Vinyl papers are suitable for kitchens and bathrooms as they are resistant to condensation and steam.
